What Are Mixed Use Developments?
Simply; developments that do not try and segregate areas on the basis of residential, commercial etc., but focus on quality of life parameters while enhancing productivity and encouraging greater participation in productive enterprise.
A ‘Mixed Use’ development combines essential infrastructure to live, to work and to play in the same locale, reducing wasteful expenditure of time, effort and resources on getting from one to the other. More time, less strain, more resources automatically plug into quality of life.
While there have conventionally been various constraints to pursuing this agenda, there are many compelling reasons now to re-examine how we plan and build our cities and these have demonstrated their impact – both individual and collective strongly.
